What to wear on Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving is one of the most important holidays in the U.S., and it’s important to look your best while you’re feasting with family and friends. Here are some tips for what you should wear on this day:

Make sure that your outfit is comfortable enough so that you can enjoy yourself at the dinner table with ease. You don’t want to be worrying about whether or not your clothes are going to rip or tear if you sit down too hard.

Make sure that your outfit reflects the holiday of Thanksgiving by wearing something festive, such as a bowtie or a plaid shirt with jeans. This will show that you’re looking forward to being with your family during this special time of year and will make them feel special as well!

What to wear on thanksgiving day

Thanksgiving is a time for family, food, and giving thanks. It’s also a time for dressing up in your fanciest clothes and heading out to eat with your friends and loved ones.

But what to wear? There are so many options! You could go all-out in a stunning gown or dress, or you could hit the streets in something more casual—like a pair of jeans and a comfy sweater.

Whether you’re going to work or spending the day with friends and family, here are some ideas for what to wear on Thanksgiving Day:

Thanksgiving is a time to celebrate the things we are thankful for—and that includes what we’re wearing.

You don’t want to show up in a frumpy dress or an ill-fitting suit, but you also don’t want to show up in something that doesn’t reflect your personality. That’s where I come in! This year, I’m going to help you find the perfect outfit for Thanksgiving so that you can enjoy the day with your family and friends while looking great.

I’ll be posting more articles on this topic as the big day approaches so stay tuned!

Thanksgiving is a time to celebrate with your family and friends over a delicious meal. It’s also an opportunity to reflect on the year that’s passed and look forward to what’s to come. We’ve put together this guide so you can have the best Thanksgiving celebration ever!

This year, we’re going to focus on what you should wear for Thanksgiving dinner. First up: casual attire. Casual attire for Thanksgiving means something a little different for men than it does for women.

For men, casual attire typically means jeans and a button-down shirt or sweater with no tie (but don’t forget your belt!). For women, it means anything from jeans to a dressy skirt suit—and maybe even some heels if you’re feeling fancy!

Next up: formal attire. Formal attire is more of a personal choice than casual or business attire because it varies so much depending on who you’re going out with and where you’re going after dinner. If you’re going out with family members who are older than 70 years old, definitely go formal; if not, stick with casual or business attire instead!

Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks, but it’s also a time to dress up. This year, you don’t have to choose between being thankful and being stylish—you can do both!

We’ve put together some outfit ideas for Thanksgiving. Whether you’re hosting, attending a potluck with friends, or just going shopping for your family, these outfits are sure to make anyone smile.

We’ve got you covered with cozy dresses, sweaters and jumpsuits. Thanksgiving Day is the time to let your fall fashion staples shine. Your best oversized sweaters, jumpsuits and comfy pants deserve a spot at the table this year, even if you’re just gathering with close family or have a Friendsgiving

THANKSGIVING DRESS
Thanksgiving brings with it a lot of stress, especially if you’re the one cooking, but one thing you shouldn’t be worried about is your Thanksgiving outfit.

To save you a bit of frustration down the line, I’m going to cover a variety of Thanksgiving outfits that are appropriate for the holiday, from casual to dressy. Whether you’ll be frolicking in the leaves, stuck in the kitchen, or are headed to a big family affair or just to a friend’s house, I’ve got you covered. Getting dressed has never been so easy, especially if you put a little thought into it now. (And don’t forget to leave a little wiggle room in whatever you wear to accommodate the feast of the holiday!)

If you’re wondering what to wear for Thanksgiving, read on!

CASUAL THANKSGIVING OUTFITS
When it comes to casual Thanksgiving dress, opt for pants. I, personally, like jeans with just a hint of stretch, but fall always reminds of me corduroy. While you can opt for a nice dark-wash denim, both jeans and corduroy pants come in a variety of colors that are appropriate for the season: warm beige, chocolate brown, hunter green, and rust. Why not up the color factor with something fun in your Thanksgiving outfit?

You’ll want to add some layers to those pants, given the chill factor in most parts of the country this time of year. Depending on the temperature, you can opt for a turtleneck, button-down Oxford shirt, or long-sleeved t-shirt for your first layer. Top it off with a sweater or a vest. You can choose a pullover in either a crewneck or V-neck, a short or long cardigan (with or without buttons), or a vest.

If you’d rather, you can forego the sweater and rock a moto jacket, utility jacket, or a blazer. Top it all off with some panache—maybe a scarf, fun hat, or piece of statement jewelry—for a cute Thanksgiving outfit.

Jeans + Pretty Sweater + Boots + Scarf (optional) = Casual Thanksgiving look

DRESSY CASUAL THANKSGIVING OUTFITS
Let’s just start by saying there are no jeans allowed in dressy casual Thanksgiving outfits. This dress code calls for a nice pair of trousers or a skirt. I personally prefer trousers because skirts and dresses tend to err more on the side of dressier, but your closet (and your family) will dictate what is best for your Thanksgiving outfit.

For trousers, really anything in a nice black, brown, gray, burgundy, or blue would look great. You can stick with a solid color or go with a small pinstripe, and keep the hem full length (with or without cuff, straight or wide leg) or cropped at the ankle. Generally a nice mid-rise works the best, but don’t discount a high-rise pant which looks great on tall ladies. (The reason you see cropped trousers in these examples is because I prefer them. I feel like they make me look taller and I get to show off my shoes.)

If you choose to do a skirt for your Thanksgiving outfit, stick with similar colors as the pants above, but you could also add a nice plaid if you so choose. The hemline can start a few inches above the knee and go to midi length, especially this time of year.

You can pair the pants or skirt with a nice sweater (turtleneck or pullover), silk blouse, or button-down Oxford. You can even wear a simple solid T-shirt with a glitzy necklace like I did in Image #9.

Stick to heels, heeled boots or booties, or a fancy pair of embellished flats to keep with the dressy casual vibe of your outfit. Speaking of embellishments, this is dressy casual, so you can rock a statement piece of jewelry or keep it simple with classic pieces…your choice.

If you would like, you can also wear a blazer over the look. You’re already wearing nice pants so add a nice black top to match and you’re set.

Trousers + Pretty Sweater or Shirt + Heels + Jewelry (optional) = Dressy Casual Thanksgiving Look

DRESSY THANKSGIVING OUTFITS
When you must, or want to, dress to the nines for your Thanksgiving holiday, don’t hold back. Remember, you can never be overdressed, so take advantage of that fact and put together something amazing.

Dresses tend to be your best option when going dressy, but a pair of dark silk, wool or linen trousers with the right top, a pair of spectacular heels, and some good jewelry can be just as impressive for a Thanksgiving outfit.

In each of the examples I’m wearing a dress. They each have a different style and color but the one thing they have in common is that they are fabulous. It might be the cut of the dress, some strategically placed cutouts, the embellishments, or the material itself that makes it have a “wow” factor. Lengths can start a few inches above the knee and go to just below the knee.

If you’re going for pants, they should be high quality, tailored, in solid black, with the leg either straight or cropped. (You might be able to get away with a dark charcoal gray or a winter white as well.) Starting with this neutral base gives you the leeway to go a bit upscale elsewhere: an embellished, print, or lace top, or a long-sleeve organza blouse with oversized bow would be perfect. Or try a silk tank with a statement necklace.

Needless to say, dressy Thanksgiving outfits require heels. Pumps, peep-toe, slingbacks or, if the weather allows, dressy sandals. They can be solid in color, a print (note my floral pumps!) or have embellishments. Whatever you do, own the look and wear it proudly!

Dress + Gorgeous Heels + Coordinating Accessories = Dressy Thanksgiving Look

What to wear on thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a time for family, food, and football. It’s also a time for dressing up in your finest attire and putting on that SPF 100+ sunscreen to protect your skin from the sun.

We’re not saying you should skip out on the football game, but we are saying that it’s important to protect yourself against sun damage with an SPF-infused moisturizer and lip balm. If you’re going to be outside for long periods of time, make sure to apply at least 30 minutes before heading outdoors to give it time to sink in so it doesn’t slip off during your turkey-chasing escapades.

It’s that time of year again, when you have to decide what to wear for Thanksgiving dinner. You want to look great and make a good impression, but you also want to be comfortable enough to eat your weight in turkey and pie.
