What to wear on plane to mexico

You know what’s the worst part of traveling? Not being able to wear what you want.

The whole point of going on vacation is to get away from your everyday life and unwind, but when you don’t feel comfortable in what you’re wearing, it can be hard to relax.

We’ve got some tips for how you can stay comfortable on your flight to Mexico—and look good too!

Whether you’re headed to Mexico for a long weekend or just a quick jaunt, the most important thing to remember is that you are going to be in the sun. A lot. And it’s going to be hot! You will have time to relax and enjoy yourself, but if you want to make sure that your trip is as comfortable as possible, here are some tips on what to wear when traveling to Mexico.

What to wear on plane to mexico

If you’re about to embark on your next vacation, you’re probably already feeling the stress of packing and planning. But when it comes to what to wear on plane to Mexico, there are a few things you should keep in mind.

First: the weather. The weather in Mexico varies wildly depending on where you are. If you’re traveling through the desert or in coastal areas, then the weather will be hot and dry; if you’re heading into mountains or jungle regions, then it will be much cooler. So make sure that whatever clothes you bring with you can handle both high temperatures and milder ones.

Second: culture and class. Mexican culture is extremely diverse, with many different classes of people living throughout the country. It’s important to remember that some areas may be more conservative than others—so if you want to make friends with locals in those areas, make sure your outfit isn’t too revealing or flashy!

Third: comfortability! You want something that feels good on your body so that when you’re sitting for long periods of time on an airplane or bus ride (or even walking around), it won’t feel like a burden against your skin—it should feel like part of who

The ClothesDress in loose shorts and a tank top or T-shirt, but bring a warm top layer in case the plane’s chilly. If you’re flying out of a chilly place, avoid denim or corduroy pants, which will start to chafe as soon as you land. Opt for khaki pants, or for a woman, flowing dress pants or a maxi dress.

Your mind is in sultry Mexico, but your body is still in snowy Detroit or blustery Maine. Dressing for the flight isn’t just about being comfortable on board, but being ready to hit Mexico running when you land — and yet, settling into your airplane seat in a swimsuit isn’t really an option. Picking clothes that can take you from your home climate to the heat of Mexico is always a good idea.

The Basics
The first things you put on are some of the most important in determining your comfort level. Even if you’re flying out of an icy tundra, leave the long underwear at home. Don some lightweight, preferably seamless and tagless underwear for maximum comfort and minimum overheating. Apply deodorant before tossing the stick in your carry-on for easy reapplication at the Mexican airport.

The Clothes
If the temperature at home is scorching, getting dressed is simple: you’ll probably want the same light clothing in Mexico that you’ll want at home. Dress in loose shorts and a tank top or T-shirt, but bring a warm top layer in case the plane’s chilly. If you’re flying out of a chilly place, avoid denim or corduroy pants, which will start to chafe as soon as you land. Opt for khaki pants, or for a woman, flowing dress pants or a maxi dress. On top, a few layers of lightweight fabric is best for adjusting to changing temperatures. Top a tank top or T-shirt with a button-down shirt. If you’re headed to a high-altitude place like Mexico City during winter, you’ll want long pants, long sleeves and a light jacket.

Additional Items
You don’t control takeoff time, the quality of the plane food or the booming snores coming from your neighbor across the aisle, but you can control the comfort of your feet. Cozy socks and slip-on shoes are your best bet if you’re flying out of a cold place. On the plane, slip out of the shoes to let your feet feel free, then remove the socks when you land so your feet won’t sweat as you walk around in the heat. Sandals are also a smart choice when your departure city is hot, but pick walking sandals instead of flimsy flip-flops. Pack a light zip-up sweater or a thin, warm blanket to use as a pillow or to warm yourself with onboard.

In Your Carry-on
You’re decked out in your Mexican finest, ready to wander the cobblestone streets of Mexico City or head straight to the beaches of Cozumel as soon as you land. There’s no guarantee your checked luggage will get there with you, so pack the basics in your carry-on. Bring a swimsuit, a few pairs of underwear, some summery pajamas and a basic travel toiletry kit, since not all Mexican hotels will provide you with shampoo and body wash. Pack a travel umbrella or hooded jacket, as certain parts of Mexico can be rainy. Always carry prescriptions in your carry-on, along with the passport that’s required to gain access to Mexico. It’s only safe for an American to drink sealed bottled water in Mexico, but it’s smart to pack some anti-diarrhea medication in your carry-on in case you accidentally get your lips on some local water.

What to wear on plane to key west

Welcome to the What to Wear on a Plane to Key West blog! We’re so glad you decided to stop by and hang out with us for a while.

You might be wondering why we decided to create this site in the first place? The truth is, we were inspired by the question: “What does one wear on a plane ride from Miami to Key West?” It’s such a common question and yet there isn’t really an answer—other than “whatever you feel most comfortable in.”

That’s where we come in. We’ve done extensive research into what people wear on planes, and then we’ve put together all of our findings into this easy-to-read guide that will help you find your perfect plane outfit.

Are you a frequent flyer? If so, you know that it can be a major hassle to find the perfect outfit to wear on a flight. You want to look good, but you also want to be comfortable and not spend too much time getting dressed or undressed in the bathroom. That’s why we’ve put together this handy guide for what to wear on plane to key west.

Pack and prepare what you’ll need for island living the tropical climate

So many guests arrive in Key West with a suitcase full of stuff they’ll never use on their vacation. And yet, most of them are missing some crucial pieces of island gear.

Dress code in Key West is very casual. The finest restaurant in town will welcome you wearing neat shorts and a collared shirt.

With that said, we offer some suggestions on packing:

  • Suitcase – Travel smart. Get a suitcase that you will enjoy traveling with. Tie a ribbon on the handle to easily spot at baggage claim.
  • Shorts – Key West is shorts territory. More than one pair is suggested.
  • Sandals/Flip-Flops. Good footwear is crucial to island life. Local Key West residents live in open-toed shoes – like flip flops and sandals. You may want to also bring a comfortable pair of sneakers.
  • Bathing suits
  • Cotton shirts – light colors and whites work well with Key West’s strong sun. Don’t wear black during the day.
  • Island wear – short sleeve shirts
  • A pair of jean/pants – two if it’s winter
  • Sunscreen – the sun is intense and you will tan (and burn) no matter the spf. Without sunscreen, you are toast. Burnt, red, toast.
  • Sunglasses – We islanders live in our shades. You will too. And don’t forget a leash (ex: Croakie) for them while you’re on the briny.
  • Hat with brim.
  • Light windbreaker/pullover – if it’s cool on the water, especially after sunset.
  • Dry Bag – Keeps your belongings (phone, camera, keys) safe and dry while near the water and beach. Very handy if you plan on being on a boat or near the water.
  • Beach shoes – for you tenderfoots at the rocky Ft. Zachary Taylor beach.
  • Personal/Toiletries
  • Camera – film, batteries, memory card, recharger, disposable and waterproof cameras (see below)
  • Gear – fishing, golfing, scuba diving, etc.
  • Aspirin

Here is what you can leave behind: Wool, neckties, & uncomfortable shoes. Also, you won’t need ski boots (no snow), surfboards (no waves), or air purifiers (no pollution).

Average Key West Temperature, Rain, and Sea Temperature

In the summer, the climate is warm & muggy with a high of 90 and a nighttime low of 80 (quite balmy). Though warm, the surrounding waters moderate our temperatures keeping our all-time high temp. below 100 degrees. In the winter, temperatures are typically between 65 and 75 degrees, but a cold front can lower those numbers by ten degrees. The high humidity of the Keys means that you’ll feel either hotter or cooler than it really is.

These come with laundry bags to help keep your clean and dirty clothes separate, and offer a lifetime replacement guarantee.

What to Wear in Key West
The dress code in Key West is very casual. Shorts, island wear, sundresses, and sandals are all appropriate. When packing, think mix-and-match, lightweight items that pair with each other and can be worn for more than one type of activity. And, since you will likely be spending a lot of time near the water, don’t forget to bring a few bikinis or bathing suits of your choice.Woman in bikini in key west

SPRING in Key West – March-May and September-November
The weather is warm year-round in Key West, so your packing won’t need to change much throughout the year. You may want to bring layers for the evenings but plan on shorts and sundresses throughout the day. The average highs are around 83° F (28° C), and the average low this time of year is around 75° F (23° C).

SUMMER in Key West – June-August
is warmer still, and so you’ll want to plan on spending time at the pool or beach. Pack shorts, tanks, and sundresses, along with sandals and flip-flops. You will find that summer is the off-season in Key West, and so rates may be lower in the warm weather, with average highs around 89°F (31° C), and average lows near 81° F (27° C)

WINTER in Key West – December-January
is a great time to visit Key West if you want slightly cooler temps. It’s still pretty warm, but you’ll need to pack lightweight layers for morning and evening. In winter months, the average high is about 76° F (24° C), with temps around 68° F (20° C) for the average low.

What NOT to Bring to Key West
1.DON’T BRING a surf board
The Florida Keys are not known as a great surf destination. The calm waters are great for other activities, but most surfers will be disappointed here.

2.DON’T PACK Heavy clothing
Key West is warm year-round, and you’ll want to be outside almost the whole time you are there. Bulky, heavy clothing will be too warm and you’ll regret bringing it.

3.DON’T TAKE Expensive jewelry
Although crime in Key West is not really a problem, you won’t need fancy or expensive jewelry when going out, so leave it at home. The casual-vibe of Key West means you can get by with a few inexpensive accessories.

4.DON’T PACK Uncomfortable, formal clothing
Key West is extremely casual, and there is almost no need for formal clothing. Throw in a nice dress or jacket for dinner out, but plan casual clothing almost all the time.

5.DON’T BRING Full size towels
Wherever you stay, whether a hotel or Airbnb, should have towels for you, and bringing your own would take up way too much space in your luggage.

6.DON’T TAKE Beach chairs
You can rent beach chairs right at most beaches, and even if you are traveling by car and not plane, they take up too much space and are awkward to travel with.

7.DON’T PACK Books
Books will take up too much room in your luggage, and add unnecessary weight. If you’re planning to read on the plane or at the beach, bring a Kindle and you’ll have portable access to thousands of books.

FAQs about Key West travel
1.How do I get to Key West?
Visitors can fly directly into Key West International Airport from other cities in Florida. There’s also an express ferry from Ft. Myers. Another popular route is to fly into Miami and drive US Route 1 out through the Florida Keys (Key West is the last one). The drive takes 3-4 hours, but is an experience in itself, covering over 100 miles, 42 bridges, and connecting 34 islands.

2.What is the best time of year to visit?
The best time to visit Key West is between March and May when the weather is perfect. You’ll find lower rates in the off-season (summer), and cooler temps in the winter months. Almost any time of year means great weather and sunshine.

3.What should I do in Key West?
Key West is known for bars, so if you are into barhopping and nightlife, definitely consider a trip there. If you aren’t into the bar scene, there is still plenty to do on a Key West vacation. Surrounded by beautiful ocean, Key West boasts great snorkeling, sailing, fishing, and sunbathing. The Ernest Hemingway Museum attracts many visitors, and walking Duval Street is a great way to spend the day exploring shops, cafés, and galleries. Take time to leave the main drag of Duval Street, as both New Town and Old Town have restaurants, boutiques, and bars worth checking out.

4.What should I avoid in Key West?
There are definitely tourist-traps in Key West, especially the many t-shirt and souvenir shops. If you are planning to enjoy the island’s nightlife, you should also avoid being an overly obnoxious tourist – there are many locals born and raised on Key West (known as “Conchs”), and they don’t appreciate partiers who approach the nightlife with a “What happens in Key West, stays in Key West” attitude.

5.Is Key West safe?
Yes, it is. Although there is a large bar scene, Duval Street and Key West are very safe, with a strong police presence.

6.Do I need to worry about hurricanes?
Key West is located closer to the Caribbean than the rest of Florida and can be in the path of hurricanes. However, many people travel to Key West in the fall (hurricane season) with no trouble at all, and historically, it is not a hard-hit hurricane area. With advances in weather forecasting, there is usually plenty of notice of impending storms, and many tourist destinations offer hurricane cancellation policies. To have extra peace of mind during your trip, consider Travel Insurance such as World Nomads.
