I’m not talking pants today but rather the shoes you wear with them.  Specifically what shoes you should pair with wide leg crop pants (although a few slimmer pairs did sneak in there).  If you follow anyone on Instagram you have likely seen them don a pair of wide leg pants (myself included).  People seem to be obsessed.  There is a good reason.  They are super comfortable and the fit is super flattering for lots of different body types.  Pick your top wisely and they accentuate your waist and minimize any lower body extras.  My favorite crops are my Oshimas (Everlane has similar) but if we are talking wide and denim then I have to go with these Levis wonders.  No matter what pair I’m wearing though, I often get the same question …

“What shoes do I wear with them?”

The good news is many different styles of shoes work with wide leg crops but some are better than others.  Here are my top picks!

Heels

If you are only going to pick one then a simple high heel pump is the classic way to go!  It doesn’t have to be sky high (a kitten heel will work).  Keep the toes pointed or at a minimum almond shaped like the Helena Pump at the end.  For this look to work best, you don’t really want your toes rounded.  You can modify the vamp slightly or open the heel – both shown with the Tibi slingback below.  #PumpItUp

Flats

You don’t have to wear heels but if you are going to opt for flats the pointer the toe the better.  If you must go with a rounder toe, make sure it is at least more oval or almond shape.  This will help keep the eye moving and avoid the dreaded leg shortening.

Strappy Sandals

For a really leg lengthen effect opt for a barely there strappy sandal.  If the shoe has an ankle strap, make sure the crop pant ends a few inches above the ankle strap. #SummerSolution

Mules

One way to have some fun is with a cool mule (again with a pointed toe).  Pick a cool animal print like snake or leopard for even more fun! #Meow

While the shoes you pair with wide leg crop pants is important.  Overall, when it comes to styling, you should keep proportions in mind.  Balance high volume pants with a slimmer top or cropped jacket, and add more volume on top when your crop pants are more fitted. The shoes are just the final statement to a well put together look. #MakeAStatement
